John Moore “Continuing Education” Scholarship
The John Moore Scholarship ($750) is awarded to a student who would like to continue his/her vocational or technical training. Eligible examples include two-year trade schools, cosmetology, computer technology, auto mechanic, culinary school, or medical technologist training. Similar training programs are acceptable. This scholarship is named after Mr. John Moore, a gifted Vo-Tech teacher at SHS for many years. His patience, love and dedication to his students was apparent every day in the halls and classrooms at SHS. The application should include: (1) a resume, (2) three (3) signed recommendation letters (at least one of which must be from a high school teacher), (3) applicants must be recipients of the Free or Reduced Lunch Program (statement from school district required), and (4) a 225-300 word maximum essay written by the applicant to include the following information:
- Description of any vocational/technical training or experience
- Description of participation in school or community activities, organizations, clubs, etc.
- Goals to be achieved as a result of receiving this scholarship
- Impact this scholarship will have on your future educational pursuits
